When the program starts, you see an initial "Tip of the Day" dialog box, showing a handy tip.

Information is displayed in topic windows. When the program first starts, a single topic window is open, to the opening graphic page of the database. Generally, the first thing to do is to maximize the topic window by pressing the middle button. You'll also probably want to maximize the program in the same way, by pressing its middle button.

You can create other topic windows if you desire by selecting the "New" option underneath the File Menu. This permits you to have multiple views into the database open at the same time.

Next, notice that each topic window is divided into two major sections, left and right.  There's a vertical dividing line separating these sections that can easily be moved with the mouse. Position the mouse cursor over the line until little left/right arrows (or vertical bars) form and then, with the left mouse button pressed in, you can move the line left or right.

The left section is composed of the high level index to all of the books. The bottom section is composed of a variable listing of topics which come either from selecting a book in the high level index, which causes all of the topics in that book to be displayed, or from search hits. Click here for a more complete description of the left section.

The right section is composed of controls at the top for navigation, and the main topic display area. The topic is automatically resized when either the program or topic window is resized, including movement of the left/right section divider. Click here for a complete description of the controls.

Full text searching is described more completely here.
You can open a new Notepad or Wordpad application by pressing the appropriately labeled buttons on the control bar.
